My yard, Our water
The Floridan Aquifer provides us with some of the best drinking water in the world. People pay for what we drink straight from the tap or hose.
This project proposes to dig below the seasonal high water level and leave only two feet of sand protection above the aquifer.
Once contaminates reach that level there is no taking them back. One gallon of spilled diesel fuel can contaminate 6.3 Million gallons of water.
The Floridan Aquifer system spans approximately 100,000 square miles.
This is a truly regional issue.
